about

With Rock Horn Projects first album, leader, hornist and composer Adam Wolf looked to challenge the stereotype of the horn, and showcase it in a way it hasn’t been heard before in a rock setting like this. While the album has received praise, Wolf immediately went to work on a second album with plans to dive even further into the concept of stretching the boundaries of the horn. While Wolf writes the songs and leads the band, friend and co producer Preston Shepard handles most of the production of the album, as both the recording engineer and mixer for the albums. Shepard is equally responsible for the sound of the band, as the recordings were the first accurate presentation of the bands unique styles and orchestration.

While this album is not a concept album per se, it does take us on a journey through a period of life that many artists go through. The title and opening track “Unbreakable” acts as something of an overture for the whole album. From there on, the titles of the tracks guide the listener through the feelings down the path of our story, from “Captivity” to “Flying High”. Every track brings something unique to the album that either expands on existing styles explored by RHP, or ventures into new territory. Band members returning to the sophomore album were Rusty Kennedy, Mona Tian, Emily Call, Lauren Baba and Betsy Rettig, and making their grand entrance to recorded RHP music are Evan Montgomery, Basia Bochenek, and Amir Oosman.
